Banksia Joyous is an expression of the abundance and beauty of the Banksia plant species. I live in an area prolific with different varieties, in fact, we built our house around a very large, old banksia tree! It gives me great joy to live almost IN it’s branches, watching the birdlife come and go… and so, is the inspiration for this painting.

It features a boisterous palette of quinacridone reds and magentas complemented by just a smattering of vivid greens and blues. The composition is open with flowing, organic shapes that depict movement and life. Blended tones and glazing techniques create an ephemeral quality that is undeniably attention grabbing.
